Website migration and maintenance

We’ll move your site off its old platform, then keep it updated and secure, so it stops being something you have to think about.

Choose the platform you're moving from

Most of the sites we migrate have been running quietly for years on a platform that needs constant updating, and usually nobody has had the time to keep up with it. We move them onto a setup that is far easier to look after, redirect every page that matters so it can still be found in search, and then take care of the site ourselves once it’s live. Choose the platform you’re moving from to see how that works in practice.

WordPress to Sanity and Next.js

For sites built on WordPress and a growing pile of plugins. We move your content into Sanity, rebuild the front end in Next.js and replace each plugin with code or a service, which leaves far less to patch and nothing for your team to break when they update a page.

WooCommerce and Magento to Shopify

For online stores that spend more time on updates than on selling. We move your products, customers and order history to Shopify, and because Shopify changes every product address, each old URL is redirected so search engines and returning customers still find what they’re looking for.

How every migration works

Whether we’re moving a WordPress site or an online store, the work follows the same steps, and most of it happens before anything on your live site changes.

  1. A conversation about your site

We start with what your site does, who updates it and what's been getting in the way, because a migration is the easiest moment to fix the things that annoy your team every week.

  2. An audit of what you have now

  3. A plan and a quote

  4. The build, on a preview link

  5. Content moved across and checked

  6. Launch

  7. After launch

Keeping your rankings

When a site loses search traffic after a migration, it’s usually because pages that used to rank simply vanished, leaving old links and search results pointing at an error page. So before the build starts, we list every address your current site has, from its sitemap, Google Search Console and a full crawl, and map each one to its closest equivalent on the new site with a permanent redirect. Pages are never redirected to the homepage as a shortcut, because search engines treat that much like a missing page.

We also carry over the page titles, descriptions and headings that are already working, submit the new sitemap to Google, and check Search Console after launch for anything that hasn’t been picked up. Some movement in the first few weeks is normal while search engines process the change, and nobody can honestly promise exact positions, but a page that ranks today shouldn’t be lost because a redirect was missed.

Maintenance, in full

A migration only helps if someone keeps looking after the site afterwards, because new vulnerabilities keep turning up, and AI is finding them faster than ever. Our maintenance is a monthly service, and this is what it covers.

  • Your site is hosted on Vercel, which also adds protections at the platform level, such as firewall rules for known exploits.

Frequently asked questions

The questions we hear most often before a migration, from search rankings to who owns the site afterwards.

Every page that matters gets a permanent redirect to its closest equivalent, and we monitor Search Console after launch to catch anything missed. Some movement in the first few weeks is normal, but a page that ranks today shouldn’t disappear because of the move.

No. The new site is built and tested on a preview link while your current site stays live, and in most cases the switch itself is instant. Technically, the change can take up to two days to reach every network, although we’ve yet to see one take that long.

Yes. Your content lives in Sanity, with the editor set up around your team so each person sees what they need, and every migration comes with custom video guides so your team can update the site from the day it launches.

Your domain stays registered to you. Where we can, we take over managing its DNS settings, copying across everything that’s already there, so your email and any other services carry on exactly as before. If your IT team would rather keep control of DNS, we work with them to make the change at the moment the new site goes live.

It depends on the size of the site and how much is changing, so you’ll get a timeline with your quote. Smaller sites can be migrated in as little as two weeks.

The first month or so after launch is included in the migration price, because that’s when we monitor your rankings and fix anything that has drifted. After that, ongoing maintenance is your choice. We’d recommend it, for the reasons above, and we’ll agree the level of cover that suits your site.

Ongoing maintenance has a three-month minimum term. After that it’s up to you: you can cancel, or we can agree an ongoing retainer.

That’s up to you. We can move your current design across as it is, but a migration is a good opportunity to improve the site as well, so we’d usually recommend at least a light refresh, or a full redesign if the current one is holding you back.

Yes. We build multilingual sites in English and Japanese, and in other languages alongside them, with every language version kept as its own indexable page. Our site for Wabital runs in English, Japanese and Spanish on the same setup.

You do. The code, the content and the Sanity project are all yours, and if you ever stop maintenance with us, you keep everything.

Yes. We also migrate sites from Wix, Squarespace, Webflow and custom PHP builds, and if yours runs on something else, get in touch and we’ll take a look.
